This poster will help students learn about the first twenty atoms on the periodic table. The poster is actually three posters in one.The first section gives important chemistry concepts. It focuses on the first 20 atoms of the periodic table, electronegativity, organic molecules nomenclature, and electrochemistry (the buzzer section). The perimeter contains pictures of the first 20 atoms and 7 important molecules. The second section gives the periodic table in form 1, which show blocks with letter symbols and the atomic number. There is a side bar that shows the number of S orbits for each atom in a given row. And there is a bottom bar that shows how many electrons are in the atom's outermost orbit in a given column. The third section gives the periodic table in form 2, which shows each individual atom with the S orbits, P orbits and the number of electrons in each orbit. You can separate the three section. Hang the first section on your wall, and carry form 1 and form 2 of the periodic table in your notebook for easy reference.

Visit the websites listed below to learn about the Hydrogen Atom, the water molecule, the Sodium Chloride molecule (table salt), electronegativity, organic nomenclature, the buzzer experiment and more. These sites are ANIMATED!

Classroom activity with the "Kids for Chemistry Poster."
You can use the poster as a class activity. You will need to obtain some dice and pawns. Players put their pawns on the starting position. Take turns rolling dice. Land on the spot indicated by the dice. Student must identify the atom or molecule that she or he lands on. If they identify the atom or molecule correctly, they obtain 500 dollars (
Click here to print game money from web
). They can also win money by landing on one of the four special blocks (1000, 2000, 3000 or 4000 dollars). And they collect 500 dollars everytime they pass the beginning spot. Who ever wins 50,000 dollars first wins the game. You can play as individuals or as teams

The result of this activity is that students will learn the first twenty atoms on the periodic table and their structure and the structure of some important molecules. They will learn chemistry by playing a game and having fun!
